A Story of Family and Passion

Where Architecture and Life Intersect

Fernando and Maria present Lxroller.

They say that when an architect and a civil engineer team up, the result can only be a good project. In our case, the project went far beyond drawings and concrete; it was the year 2005.

Our story began as colleagues in large companies, where the dynamics of our work revealed a rare synergy. Quickly, this professional partnership transformed into a life partnership. The passion for designing and building became the guiding thread of our story, like a book we wrote with each completed project.

Our Journey: From Lisbon to Benguela (and the return to our roots)

In 2008, we decided to embrace a different challenge. We left for Angola, where for six years we led major projects and coordinated teams of hundreds of workers under the African sun. It was a time of growth, returning to our roots, and watching our family grow. However, the call of our daughters’ education and the longing for Portugal brought us back in 2014.

We founded LxRoller, where we managed over 50 accommodation units in Lisbon. But our hearts always beat stronger for the project and the work itself—our true “backbone.” The 2020 pandemic gave us the push we needed to refocus on what we really are: creators and builders.

A Lineage of Builders: The Past, the Present, and the Future

LXROLLER was not born by chance; it is the unfolding of a legacy that spans generations. The construction bug already ran in Fernando’s blood, who grew up watching his father, Mr. Manuel Baptista, erect buildings and manage his own construction company, first in Benguela and then in Portugal. It was with him that he learned the value of rigorous work and the importance of leaving a solid legacy on earth.

Team

A Legacy in Motion

Our solid foundation wasn’t born today; it’s in our blood. We honor a family heritage that began with Fernando’s father, a builder through and through who established businesses in Benguela and Portugal. It is this integrity and love for the craft that we now pass on to the third generation of our team.

  • André: Civil Engineer and son of Fernando, who, although pursuing his own professional path, maintains a constant technical partnership with us, guaranteeing the rigor that our signature demands.
  • Maria Celeste: An architecture student who brings the energy, drive, and contemporary perspective needed to renew the treasures of our city.

In this way, what we do is not just a work of art; it is the continuation of a family history that began in Africa, was consolidated in Portugal, and now shapes the future of new generations.

Our Purpose: Nothing gives us more pleasure than returning to the city a property that was in ruins or forgotten. We design its future with the same care with which we built our history: with total dedication, a focus on the “invisible works” that guarantee quality, and the pleasant anxiety of seeing the final result.

Welcome to the LXROLLER family.
